The 10th anniversary of Taj’s Small Fries, held in Yallingup, Western Australia, crowned six champions. The future stars of Australian surfing showed their skills in the punchy three-foot peaks on offer at Shallows, just north of Taj Burrow’s home. In the Boys 16 & Under division, Kael Walsh used his smooth backhand turns to lock in the highest score of the final, an 8.50, followed by a 7.8-point wave. “I’m so stoked right now this is a really big event for me, being 10 years and all,” expressed Walsh, who also won the outstanding performance award by Taj Burrow.
