Gabriel Medina defeated Joel Parkinson to win the Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast 2014, at Snapper Rocks. The Brazilian wonder boy is the first Brazilian and only the second goofy-footer ever to win the Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast. Medina took out the title by a very narrow margin: 0.06 points. Parkinson opened the final with an impressive tube from behind the rocks, which would earn him a 9-point ride. The Australian would quickly back up the ride with a high 6, while Medina would search feverishly to log scores on the board.
