Kanoa Igarashi has secured his spot on the 2017 Championship Tour (CT) after winning the Hang Loose Pro 2016, in Praia Joaquina, in Brazil. The American surfer defeated local star and fellow Dream Tour campaigner Jadson Andre and jumped to first on the Qualifying Series (QS) rankings. In the 35-minute final, a series of mistakes by Andre handed Igarashi the event’s title. Kanoa, who never lost a Round 2 heat in the CT season, got the most out of the tricky conditions and surfed his waves with precision and commitment.
