Connor O’Leary has taken the first ever international pro surfing event in South Korea, the Murasaki Quiksilver Jeju Open of Surfing. The contest took place at Jungmun Beach in Jeju Island, in 2-foot (1 meter) waves with sunny skies. The young Australian from Cronulla Beach defeated former elite ASP World Championship Tour surfer Nathan Hedge. O’Leary put on a sensational performance in the final, scoring a 9.00 (out of a possible 10) on his opening ride and backing that up with a 9.50. With two solid waves under his belt O’Leary put all of the pressure on hi opponent and when the siren sounded he was crowned event champion.
