Leaver was explosive on his forehand, posting two excellent nine point plus rides to finish on 19.10 (from a possible 20).”The waves were really fun out there, I found some good runners that allowed me to execute some good turns so I’m stoked.” said LeaverLeaver, along with Duke Nagtzaam (Yallingup), Pascal Hutchinson (Sorrento) Jed Mattinson (Margaret River) and Moses Le Grice (East Fremantle) performed outstandingly in round one and will be leading the charge to attend the renowned Hurley Surfing Australia High Performance Centre when competition continues tomorrow. In the girls divisions it was south-west surfers Pheobe McGregor (Yallingup), Emi Campbell (Denmark) and Mia McCarthy (Margaret River) that looked in great touch. However, it was a Denver Young (Cottesloe) that shone the brightest in the under-18’s. Young used an array of forehand manoeuvres to score a 14.57 combined total (from a possible 20).”I guess I have the local advantage for once, so I made sure I used it the best I could.” said YoungCompetitors revelled in front of a strong on beach crowd, making the most of the expression sessions and free lunch on offer thanks to Subway®.The Subway® Summer Surf Series will help young Australians continue to develop their passion for surfing, whether it be professionally or recreationally and carry on to enjoy a lifetime of surfing.Participants will compete to win the chance to attend a three-day Subway® Surf Camp at the renowned Hurley Surfing Australia High Performance Centre at Casuarina, NSW.
