Wales is the 74th nation represented in the International Surfing Association (ISA). Wales is one of the best surfing regions in Europe. It was fully discovered and explored for surfing back in the 1950s. The Welsh Surfing Federation was born in 1973. The country enjoys the benefit of prevailing Atlantic swells from the southwest, for all types of surf crafts from shortboards, longboards, SUPs and bodyboards, on all types of break from long sandy beaches, to off-shore sand banks, reefs and points.
