San Diego could be the first city in the world to feature a public artificial surf pool designed by the Kelly Slater Wave Company (KSWC). The San Diego Unified Port District plans to make improvements to the city’s waterfront, and the McWhinney/DJM consortium was one of the six teams with a project to change the old site. The proposal for San Diego Bay includes hotels, parks, a fish market, a tuna harbor, parking sites, public markets, business offices, restaurants, shopping areas, a marina, cultural spaces, and water walkways.
