South African Jordy Smith has taken out the 2016 Vans World Cup of Surfing, at Sunset Beach, in Hawaii. The Championship Tour surfer won his second event of the season, after defeating Frederico Morais, Torrey Meister, and Tanner Gudauskas, in the final held in eight-to-ten-foot surf. Smith applied his classic rail-to-rail game to build his scores and sealed the deal with the highest wave score of the heat – an 8.73.
