Kelly Slater defeated Dane Reynolds in Round 2 of the Quiksilver Pro France 2014, at Les Guardians, to keep his world title hopes alive. The 11-time ASP world champion, 42, was able to adapt to the perfect three-to-four foot waves, tide, waves, wind, and sand banks, by eliminating the lethal free surfer from Ventura. “I’m nervous about each heat now. The pressure is on me to perform and to win events if I want to catch up to Gabriel. I’ve been coming to France to surf for 25 years now, and I’m about as comfortable as one can get. It’s about adaptability,” explains Slater.
