Jordy Smith scored a Perfect 10-point wave in the opening rides of the 2014 J-Bay Open, at Jeffreys Bay, in South Africa. Smith was the standout performer of the day with the highest two-wave heat total of the 2014 season. The classic five-to-seven foot (1.5 – 2.1 metres) swell lines hit Supertubes with God’s hand. The South African defeated Owen Wright and Jadson Andre by boasting a deadly combination of local knowledge, the athleticism to take on Supertubes’ fast, steep waves, and the pressure to bring in a good score after an early season of mixed results.
